Pastor Steve gave each of us three pieces of paper, print on both sides. These were the prayer requests submitted Sunday morning on the Communications Cards. "I don't know if we can get through all of these," said Steve, "but let us spend the next 50 minutes praying."Heads bowed, one by one we lifted up your concerns to the Lord. Parents with cancer, struggling marriages, employment searches, sons not walking with the Lord are just some of the things we brought before God.
As I skimmed down the heartbreaks you had listed, I asked myself, "What am I really praying for."
In each instance it came down to this: That each person in our congregation and the person they wanted prayer for, amidst their struggles, would catch of glimpse of an almighty, but personal God working in their lives. That they would know Jesus is real, he loves them and offers forgiveness.
Then it struck me that this was the prayer I most desired for my children, my neighbors, myself...for the world.
Prayer is a step we can all make towards making more and better disciples, here and around the world.
